TRADE JUSTICE: The Trade Justice movement, supported by Christian Aid, Cafod, Traidcraft and other agencies, is campaigning for justice in world trade.
The United Nations estimates that for each dollar developing countries receive in aid they lose $14 in unfair trade tariffs.
Local campaigners have organised a Trade Justice camaign evening at the Salvation Army Hall, Queen Street, Crook, next Monday, at 7pm, with Michael Faulkner, from Christian Aid, as guest speaker.
There will be a finger buffet with fairly traded food and a stall selling Traidcraft items.
The Trade Justice Campaign is calling for the rules that govern international trade to be re-written so that they work to reduce poverty rather than increase it.
