PARENT governors from three County Durham schools have been appointed to a body overseeing the work of Durham County Council.
They will serve on the council's overview and scrutiny committee and a committee for developing lifelong learning.
Anita Atkinson, a magistrate, from Fir Tree, near Crook, is deputy chairwoman of governors at Wolsingham School and Community College.
Keith English, from Blackhill, near Consett, represents Benfieldside Primary School, and Georgina Gibson, of Woodham Village, near Newton Aycliffe, is a parent governor at Walworth School.
They will play an important role in the county council's new constitution, which broadens the role the public plays by involving non-councillors in its work.
