JASON the labrador-cross is a dog whose story is typical of all too many animals.
The six-year-old black and tan dog is in need of a new home after its owners' circumstances changed and they were no longer able to devote enough time to look after him properly.
"He really is a nice dog and he would make a nice family pet," said Pauline Wilson, of the National Animal Sanctuary Support League, in Darlington, which wants to rehome Jason.
"His owners are now out at work all day and they haven't got time to give him the care a dog needs."
The dog has been neutered and vaccinated, and is good with other dogs and children.
Anyone who can give Jason a good home is urged to contact (01325) 321855 or 07748 268822.
The league can also be contacted via its Internet website at www.nassl.org.uk, which was launched last week and has already had its first two successes.
