ANNIVERSARY SERVICE: The Reverend Linda Williams will lead the anniversary service of Birtley Methodist Church Women's Guild at 10.30am, on Sunday, before taking up an appointment in Wales.
PRESIDENT'S NIGHT: Sacriston and District Everyman's Club will hold their president's night at 7.30pm on Tuesday, April 23, in the Lounge of St John's Court.
WOODLAND WALK: A two-and-a-half mile walk will take place through Cong Burn Wood and along the disused railway from 11am on Sunday. The walk starts from the Waldridge Tavern Car Park.
NEW COURSES: A course in Tai Chi, at £2.50 per session, is held from 10ain until noon and from 8pm to 10pm on Tuesdays and 10am until noon on Fridays at Chester-le-Street Community Centre, Newcastle Bank. The centre is also to start a series of ten-week courses next week. Setting Up a Small Business will start on Monday; Driving Theory and Pond and Aquarium Keeping, on Tuesday; and Marketing Yourself, on Friday. More details are available on 0191-388 4752.
CANCER FUNDS: A total of £400 was donated to the Cancer Research Campaign by the regulars of the Wheatsheaf, Barley Mow.
BLOOD DONORS: Blood can be donated between 2.30pm and 7pm on Monday at the Red Lion, Chester-le-Street
