Network set up for disabled
A NEW network to help families who have relatives with learning disabilities will be launched in Gateshead next week. The Gateshead Network of Adults with Learning Disabilities has been set up to help people and their carers to get information about the help and advice that is available to them across the borough. IN DEMAND: A community cafe is struggling to cope with demand. The Pelton Fell Community Cafe opened on March 19 with support from One NorthEast through the Government's Single Regeneration Budget, and from the Chester-le-Street Action Team. Staff had intended to open from noon to 1.30pm, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but will also open Thursdays, from 10am and 3pm. For information, call 0191-389 3399.
CHOIR CONCERT: Durham Police Band will give a performance at Saint Cuthbert's Church, Manor Way, Peterlee, tomorrow, at 7.30pm. Admission is £2.50 and is payable at the door. Refreshments are included. Further information is available on 0191-586 6347.
AWARDS CEREMONY: Fourteen people who have completed a first aid course will receive certificates from St John Ambulance at Shadforth Village Hall, at 11.30am, on Saturday. The presentations will take place during a coffee morning, from 10.30am to noon.
FARMERS' MARKET: Dur-ham's regular market of farmers' and country produce will be held in the Market Square tomorrow, between 10am and 3.30pm.
