A COMMUNITY caf has proved so successful that it has doubled its opening hours.
When it opened on March 19, Pelton Fell Community Caf intended to serve meals only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between noon and 1.30pm. But it has become so popular that it will now also open on Thursdays, between 10am and 3pm.
Mary Brennan, community development worker for Pelton Fell, who is responsible for the caf, said: "Serving excellent food at really low prices was always going to be popular, but we did not realise just how successful the caf would be. Our customers have been delighted with the quality of our meals."
The caf is supported by One Northeast and receives funding from the Government's Single Regeneration Budget and the Chester-le-Street Action Team.
