Hall fund tops £35,000
THE fundraising committee for the proposed new village hall at Hutton Rudby has reported that £35,000 has been raised, thanks to the efforts of many individuals and a range of village organisations.
Planning permission for a modified scale of building has been granted, with a lower roofline than originally proposed, a narrower frontage and a reduction in the floor area.
The committee did not feel this would seriously affect any of the proposed users and has invited present and possible future users of the premises to make their views known. Disappointment was expressed that the appeal to the National Lottery fund was rejected. A revised request is to be made and more professional help in fundraising is being sought. Confidence is high that by the end of the year the project will be able to go ahead.
