RESIDENTS of Richmond are being invited to take part in a jubilee walk around the town.
The four-mile trek, on Tuesday, June 4, will start from the town hall at 9am with a civic procession and be led by the town pinder, Bob Chandler, and the bannerman, Denis Sanderson.
It has been organised by the town council with help from the Duck Club and the Infantry Training Centre, at Catterick Garrison, with permission from farmers and the golf club. The town mace bearers, halberdiers, town crier and town waterman also feature in the walk.
The route is via Finkle Street and Bargate to Green Bridge, and then along the riverside and the Batts. It then roughly follows the town boundary towards Easby, cutting back across the Darlington road and on to Olliver Duckett, where there is a break.
The walkers then cross Gilling Road and the golf course and take a half circuit of the racecourse before going along Hurgill Road and through the snicket to Whitefields and back to the town centre. Refreshments are then served on the Batts, about 12.30pm to 1pm, to raise money for charity.
Everyone who completes the walk receives a certificate and a Richmond jubilee coin.
Further details about the event are available from Peter Clarke, at the town hall, on (01748) 850808.
