STUDENTS stepped out in style last night to help buy their school the latest in computerised sewing machinery.
Year ten pupils at Wolsingham School and Community College answered a call from textiles technology teacher Anne Craven to help her invest in new equipment.
They made outfits and adapted old ones for 15 models to parade in a fashion show in the school hall.
Some costumes from school shows were included in the display, which featured dance routines devised by the girls and a musical interlude from singer Amber, the mother of two pupils.
Staff dressed as cartoon and film characters, and Johnny Plautus, who has a salon in Cockton Hill, Bishop Auckland, styled the models' hair.
Mrs Craven said: "The parents helped as well and altogether they have come up with some wonderful things.
