A THERAPY centre has opened in Hurworth, near Darlington.

Hurworth Grange Therapy Centre will offer reflexology, acupuncture, osteopathy, physiotherapy, massage, homeopathy, Bach flower remedies and Indian head massage.

An open day on Saturday, April 27, will allow visitors to meet the therapists and sample treatments.

Information boards will display details of therapies on offer and people can view the refurbished surroundings.

Set in Hurworth Grange, a Victorian manor house, the centre, with its three treatment rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and reception area, is in an ideal setting for relaxing treatments and therapies.

Centre owner Stephanie Allison said: "I am looking forward to being able to offer a wide range of mainstream complementary therapies all under one roof.

"The therapists themselves all tend to specialise in one particular discipline, and I feel this is a definite advantage."

Ms Allison is also planning to run a series of courses at the centre, including acupressure, homeopathy, Alexander technique and reflexology.

She said: "Some of these courses will hopefully be to practitioner level, but many of them will be one or two-day workshops both for practising therapists and for members of the public who would like to get a deeper insight into the various therapies."

Ms Allison has received assistance to establish her business from Darlington Business Venture.

The Hurworth Grange centre offers ideal premises in an accessible location and, with the help of financial assistance from Darlington Borough Council's Getting Started Initiative Grant Fund, the premises have been refurbished to provide a relaxed ambience.

The open day at the centre will run from 10am until 4pm.
