An artist is to stage his debut exhibition at a popular city centre pub. Drinkers at Saints, in Back Silver Street, Durham City, can view the work of Paul Muncaster, from Sunday. His collection of paintings, drawings, sketches and hot wax works, will be on display on the walls of the pub, at the rear of Durham's Indoor Market building, for the next three months.

HOSPITAL HOMES: The Government has applied to build homes at Shotley Bridge Hospital. Derwentside District Council has received an outline application from the Secretary of State for the Environment. Further details are expected in the coming weeks.

MUSIC COMEBACK: Music by a neglected 18th Century composer will be heard in County Durham next week. The Georgian Concert, at the Durham Light Infantry Museum, next Wednesday, at 1pm, will feature the work of Tyneside composer Charles Avison and contemporaries.

Digital talk: David Richardson will be the guest speaker when Pittington Photography Club meets on Monday, in Pittington village hall, at 7.30pm. He will be giving a presentation called Totally Digital. Visitors and potential new members are welcome to attend.

Village walk: Voluntary countryside rangers Neville and Gloria Anderson will introduce walkers to the history of West Pelton and Beamish on Sunday, on a three-mile walk starting at the Eden Place picnic area, Beamish, at 10.30am. The walk, organised by Durham County Council, costs £2 for adults, concessions £1.

Mast plan: Durham City Council is being asked by Vodaphone for planning permission for an 18-metre high mobile telephone mast, plus an equipment cabin, on land at Heugh Hall Farm, near Bowburn.

Licence BID: North Durham's licensing justices are being asked to grant the DH1 and Care Rock nightclubs in North Road, Durham City, licences for hours to extend to 12.30am or 2am on a Sunday before a bank holiday. The applications will be heard at the city's magistrates court on Friday, May 10, at 10am.

Donor sessions: Blood donor sessions will be held today in Eastlea Community Centre, Stockton Road, Seaham, between 3pm and 7pm and at Holy Rosary Church Hall, at the junction of Abercorn and Arbroath Road, in Farringdon, Sunderland, between 2.30pm and 7pm.
