Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League

Jarrow St Bedes strengthened their position at the top of the table with a 5-1 victory over South Moor, who have been challenging for most of the season.

There was no stopping Jarrow, however, and all the goals came in the first period. David Stephenson struck a hat-trick and others on target for St Bedes were Daniel McGinley and Stephen Martin. Michael Fraser scored a consolation goal for South Moor.

Trimdon maintained their lingering title aspirations defeating Ryhope 2-1. Liam Parsons scored in the first half to Trimdon but there were only a few minutes remaining when Ian Bickerstaff hit the winning goal.

Jarrow St Bedes have a four points lead over Herrington, who have a match in hand and Trimdon are third. They are 11 points behind Jarrow St Bedes who have no fewer than three matches in hand.

In the North East Durham Youth Cup two sides in the league were in opposition and Washington Dunlop ended 2-0 winners over Sacriston when Danny Graham scored in each half.

In girls football Spraire took on Newcastle a goal by Jordan Atkinson after nine minuetes gave Spraire the lead followed by two superbly struck goals by Laura Gowling and one from girl of the match Racheal McNight.Despite great goal keeping from Katie McTague and excellent defending from Laura Spence Newcastle pulled two goals back but it was to little to late for Newcastle final score 4-2 to Spraire. In mid week Spraire at under seventeen played in the Jubilee cup against Wolviston Court goals from Davis and Wilson ensured a 2-0 victory.

Spraire Lads U13s got off to an excellent start against champions elect of the Richmond League, Northallerton Juniors, and deservedly took the lead through a Scott Chandler goal after 15 minutes. Unfortunately Spraire lost Krishnen through injury and this provided Northallerton with all the encouragement they needed to score three goals before half-time. After the break, Spraire couldn't regain their self-belief and Northallerton went on to score another four goals, although Spraire should have pulled a goal back but the Northallerton 'keeper saved Moore's penalty. Despite the score-line, Liddle had an excellent game in the centre of defence and deserved his MoM award.
