Darlington and District League
The season really can't end too soon for some clubs while others have hit a rich vein of form. East End were well in control of their mid-week encounter with Greyhounds and led 4-0 20 minutes into the second half. Greyhounds rallied and goals from David Abdale, John Laycock (first of the season) and sub Andrew Mackintosh reduced the deficit to one. However their hopes of a point were dashed when Martin Skipsey put through his own goal. Mark Bunker gave Greyhounds renewed hope but East End scored twice more to take the points 7-4. Jimmy Francis, Shaun Collins, Darren and Roy Winter, Steven Baldesara and keeper Scott Wood were East End's other marksman.
In a hard fought encounter at Aycliffe the home side beat The Albion by the odd goal in three courtest of a double from Derek Bradley.
Post Boy bounced back from their first defeat by league opposition by trouncing Old Boys 11-0 with goals from Peter Robson (3), Paul Robson (2), Michael Armstrong (2), Jonathan Slater, Jason Rothwell, Jamie Watson and Simon Temple and they again recorded double figures with a 10-0 defeat of bottom club DSRM SC.
RA Social's slim hopes of the championship remained on track as they beat Rothmans 7-1 in midweek and then a much closer encounter a much improved performance by Old Boys restricted RA to a 3-1 victory. Archdeacon's current run of poor form continued as they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season by 5-0 at Killinghall Arms. Deacon never threatened and Killie were comfortable winners with goals from Andy Roberts (3), Danny Hannifin and Neil Matthias.
Newton Aycliffe gained their second win of the week again by the odd goal in three against Greyhounds.
The Grey Horse showed what they could do when fielding 11 men and they fully deserved their 6-1 win at Rothmans.
Shuttle & Loom were another side to hit ten against a ten-man Speedy Hire for whom Jamie Farley notched his side's consolation goal from the spot. East End rounded off an excellent week with a 6-2 win at Albion.
On Monday RA Social were well beaten in their Darlington Charity Cup Semi-Final 5-1 by Cleveland Bridge.
