YOUNG people who want a chance to shine in a new musical show are invited to audition this weekend.
Auditions are taking place at Red Rose Primary School, Chester-le-Street, tomorrow, to take the leading role in Celebrate! a new musical written by former Dr Who actor Colin Baker and North-East composer George Hastings.
The show, which charts the history of the area, will be performed with a live orchestra on the lawn at Lumley Castle on July 6.
The organisers are looking for one boy and one girl aged between eight and 14 and an older girl of about 17 to appear as Lady Lily, who reputedly haunts Lumley Castle. They should have strong acting ability and will be expected to sing solo. Auditions take place at the school, in York Terrace, Chester-le-Street at 10.30am.
