GUARDIANS of a North Yorkshire area of outstanding natural beauty are asking for more details about a bus interchange in the countryside.

The interchange has been proposed by county transport chiefs to allow feeder services in the Nidderdale Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty to link up with a proposed bus service between Harrogate and Skipton.

The committee that oversees the area is urging a landscape impact appraisal, specificiation of materials and layout for the scheme, alongside Millstones Restaurant, near the Menwith Hill US spy base.

A scheme to provide an overspill car-coach parking area is said by officials to be poorly related to the site.

However they recommended support in principle for the project, part of the Government's drive to get more people using public transport.
