HALIFAX: Pool are hoping that Halifax can stop Rushden this afternoon, but the Shaymen's preparations have been thrown into turmoil.

Today's game is their last in the Football League, but the players go into the game facing the sack by the club's administrators, who were appointed to try and secure the club's future.

Former Pool striker Craig Midgley is under contract for another 12 months, but he is likely to be sacked on Monday.

A statement said: "All the (contracted) players will be sacked next week. The reality is that there is no money. Some of the players will be able to return to the club next season on a part-time basis, while other will have more time to find new clubs if that is what they wish to do.

Those players whose contracts run up until June will be paid, while those with another 12 months to run will be compensated by the Government and the PFA.''

The players had considered refusing to play today, but have now relented.
