THIEVES climbed over a fence to enter a Darlington compound and steal 19 spare wheels and tyres for Ford Transit vans, worth £3,500.
Between three and six people using two vehicles are thought to have been involved in the raid.
Police are examining security camera footage of the thieves in the Henson Road compound, between 10.10pm and 10.30pm on Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on (01325) 467681, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
ROAD CLOSURE: A road in Darlington town centre will be closed for five days from tomorrow for resurfacing. Houndgate, from the junction of Beaumont Street to Bull Wynd, will be closed until Friday. Lingfield Way, Darlington, will be closed tomorrow, also for resurfacing.
TEA TIME: There will be two performances of Jennifer Rose's Everything Stops for Tea at Darlington Arts Centre on Tuesday, at 2.30pm and 8pm. Tickets for the plays are available from the box office on (01325) 486555, and cost £6 and £4.
EXTENSION PLAN: Plans have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council for a first-floor extension to 38 Westwood Avenue, Heighington.
HOSPICE AID: A charity night and raffle is being held at the Holy Family Social Club, Prior Street, Darlington, on Tuesday, in aid of the Butterwick Children's Hospice.
PIANO CONCERT: South African-born pianist Jonathan Oshry will play at Auckland Castle on Friday May 17, at 7.15pm. He will perform works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Chopin. The concert has been organised by Bishop Auckland Music Society.
FULL MONTY: Parents of young footballers are planning to perform their version of The Full Monty at 7.30pm on Sunday, May 5, at Old Shildon Club. Proceeds go to the Doug Grant six-a-side league. For tickets telephone (07733) 226089.
