A Darlington school has been raising money to buy toys for sick children by taking part in a "pay to play" day.
Pupils at Heathfield Primary School, Darlington, took part in mathematics and other sponsored educational games to raise £80 for a special needs unit at Harewood House and £120 for the children's ward at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Yesterday, the youngsters saw the toys their money had helped to buy for children at Harewood House.
Next week pupils from the school will visit the hospital to present their cheque to staff in the children's ward.
