WEARSIDE youngsters have been learning the value of a balanced school dinner.
From Monday to yesterday, schools throughout Sunderland took part in National School Meals Week.
Aimed at highlighting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, it combined nutritious meals with physical activities.
The slogan was Click to Get Fit, with Internet access sessions inviting pupils to learn about healthy eating.
Ann Escritt, area catering manager for Sunderland City Contracting Services, said: "National School Meals Week provides a great opportunity to emphasise the importance of educating children into adopting a healthier lifestyle by encouraging them to eat a balanced diet and have fun at the same time."
