HAULAGE company Angel Distribution plans to create more than a dozen new jobs with a move to Sunderland.
The Birtley-based business, which trades as Harkers Transport, plans to increase its fleet from 20 to 30 vehicles and staff levels from 52 to 65 employees as a result of the move.
The new base is at the former Blayney Wines Division of the Vaux Group.
The move into the 58,000sq ft warehouse, acquired for an undisclosed sum, will help the business win new customers and move into new marketplaces.
It also represents something of a homecoming for Harkers, which was established in Shiney Row in 1932.
Naylors Chartered Surveyors acted for Harkers throughout the acquisition.
Bill Naylor, managing director, said: "Our client, who currently operates from two warehouses in Birtley, was looking to consolidate their premises and expand their business.
"We were instructed to trawl the market for a suitable site and we found the 58,000sq ft warehouse which was an ideal size for a growing company.
