Bishop Auckland are set to wave goodbye to Kingsway today as their future starts to grow a little uncertain.

Bishops bring down the curtain of more than a century of glory when they play their last ever competitive match at home to Bradford Park Avenue.

Former players and officials will also be there as part of a gala day, while there will be a fund raising match after the league game has finished.

Bishops are planning on a move to Shildon's Dean Street ground, but they are in a race against time to bring the ground up to UniBond Premier Division standard.

And even if Bishops win their game against Bradford and pick up three vital points in their quest to avoid finishing in the bottom three, then they could still be relegated.

A recent meeting of the UniBond League Management committee told Bishops that Dean Street must have an A grade for their Premier Division by April 30, otherwise they would be relegated. It could therefore be possible that unless Bishops meet at least a B grade, then they could be kicked out of the UniBond League, and might have to go back to the Northern League, which they left over a decade ago.

Meanwhile, manager Alan Shoulder will be without midfielder Anthony Skedd because of suspension while there will be fitness tests for Andy Hill, Mark Salmon and Wayne Edgcumbe.

Whitby Town, who need one more win to avoid the drop, are at home to Vauxhall Motors.

In the First Division, Spennymoor can't afford to slip up against Trafford after failing to win either of their last two matches. Moors are in sixth place, just below the play-off zone, and manager Tony Lee said; "We've got to win this game to keep us in contention. We must take our chances when they come along."

l The result of the Wearside League match of the day between leaders North Shields and second-top Redcar Town could decide the title, writes MALCOLM PRATT.

Although the Seasiders are nine points adrift of the Robins, they have two games in hand and a slightly better goal difference.

"It's a massive game for both sides. We need to win more than they do and we will be going all out," said Redcar manager David Tait who is buoyed by the availability of striker Brian Crawley. In addition, he expects Gary Fisher and Jonathan Kirk to pass fitness tests.

North Shields boss Terry Paddison adds Neil McCulloch and striker Paul Symons to his squad as he aims for a quick double.

Darlington RA are in a challenging position and for their fixture with Whitehaven at Brinkburn Road will probably keep changes to a minimum following the impressive mid-week victory over Stokesley SC.

"I thought the lads played really well - the best we have performed for some time. The title is still up for grabs and we are in with a chance," declared manager David Woodcock.

Gary Hornsby and Paul Sweet come into the reckoning but Mark Radmore is out.

Boldon CA, who were unable to fulfil the fixture at New Marske on Wednesday night, will stage their game with Ryhope CW even though Paul Oley, Stephen Williams, Stuart Patterson and Keith McKenna are all unable to play.

Ryhope CW will miss goalkeeper Joe Thompson and either Michael Burlinson or Kris Snowball will deputise. Stephen Rochester will undergo a late examination on his injured ankle and doubts surround the availability of David Ashplant and Kevin Bennison who may be required to work.

In-form Birtley Town, who have lost only once in 22 outings, travel to Windscale with a severely depleted squad.

Stephen Harrison, Paul Scott, Kevin Murphy, Paul Bryson, Stephen Ireland and Paul Wilson definitely miss the trip and Gareth Davison is also doubtful.

Wolviston, 6-1 winners in mid week, are at Harton and Westoe and Andy Steele could well retain his place after scoring twice against Stanley United.

Goalkeeper Simon Clark will be considered after playing for 45 minutes on Wednesday and also under consideration are Craig Watson, Dave Morgan, Shane Hudson, Paul Roberts and Chris Felstead who were all absent on Wednesday night.

The home side will field a strong side with no fewer than five players returning after Monday's victory against Jarrow.

Bottom-of-the-table Stanley United visit Jarrow without Shaun Gregory, Greg Chapman, Stephen Moore, Ivan Moxon and Stephen Pigg but there is some good news for manager Vince Kirkup in that Darren Lamb and Ashley Wilson expect to play.

Jarrow will almost certainly be minus Andy Barclay, Michael Gibson and John Burrell while Peter Kirkham has only a 50-50 chance of playing. Gary Aisbitt and Mark Diamond, though, are able to resume.

The fixture between New Marske and Annfield Plain has been postponed because the Seasiders have three players included in the North Riding County side and have a lengthy sick list.
