TICKETS are still available for Darlington's version of the Last Night of the Proms.
Supported by The Northern Echo, the concert will feature musicians from across the North-East and North Yorkshire, including the King's Division Waterloo Band and the Tees Valley 2000 Pipes and Drums.
The winner of the Young Soprano of the Year competition, 15-year-old Sanaz Lavasani, from Kirklevington, near Yarm, will perform two songs at the concert, which will be held at Darlington's Dolphin Centre, on May 18.
Sanaz, who has been helped by her singing teacher Ann Hendix in the run-up to the competition, beat off strong competition from six other young finalists to win the title.
Dozens of young musicians will also get their chance to shine during the Promenade for Youth concert, which will also be held at the Dolphin Centre on the evening before the Last Night of the Proms.
Among the performers will be Egglescliffe School Orchestra and violinist Edward Walton, Darlington and Northallerton Rotary Young Musician of the Year.
Money raised by the events will go to St Teresa's Hospice in Darlington, Darlington branch of Age Concern, Darlington Mind, and the Corps of Army Music Trust.
Tickets for both events can be obtained from The Northern Echo on (01325) 381313, Williams Music on (01325) 466224, or the Dolphin Centre on (01325) 388406.
