VISITORS to a North-East art gallery are being greeted by a modern-day artist dressed as a famous painter.
The Laing Gallery, in Newcastle, opened its Light exhibition on Saturday, giving visitors the chance to guess which one of the gallery's 21 featured artists he is impersonating. The mystery artist will act the part of the artist in question and have a box of clues to help visitors guess his identity.
Art lovers can also examine a 2D bronze model depicting John Martin's painting of Sodom and Gomorrah as part of the new exhibition.
Light, which is jointly curated by the Laing and the National Gallery, features work by artists including Rembrandt, Monet, Turner, Degas, Pissarro and Renoir.
