TOON barmy Mitsuo Manabe has finally seen his team win for the first time - after travelling 46,000 miles to watch them.
Until the weekend, Mitsuo had flown the 11,500 miles from his home in Japan three times to watch Newcastle United.
But each time heartbroken Mitsuo returned having seen his side defeated.
So this time, he bought some Japanese lucky charms before he left Osaka to bring the Magpies some luck.
It seemed to work as Newcastle crushed Charlton 3-0 and Mitsuo got to see his hero, Alan Shearer, score his 200th Premiership goal.
The 36-year-old shop worker does not regret lashing out the £1,715 he spends each time he travels to Newcastle.
He said: "I love coming here, Newcastle United are a fantastic team and the crowd is crazy.
"It is wonderful to see them win for the first time, it must have been my lucky charms that did it."
Alan Shearer said: "He's a fantastic supporter."
Mitsuo fell in love with the Magpies when he started learning English at night classes.
His teacher was an ex-pat Geordie who showed videos of the games to help in lessons.
