Darlington Town Mission is holding an annual service of thanksgiving to celebrate 164 years of service to the people of Darlington. The event will take place on April 29 at 7.30pm at Bondgate Methodist church. Speaker is Alistair Sharp and music will be provided by Elm Ridge Church Choir.

INQUEST OPENED: An inquest into the death of David Michael Garnon, 36, who was found dead at his home in Surtees Street, Darlington was opened and adjourned at Darlington police station yesterday. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

TRAFFIC DELAYS: Delays are expected in Neasham Road, Darlington from today for four days while Northumbrian Water carries out repairs. There will be traffic lights until Friday.

MAGICAL DATE: Magician Geoffrey Durham will perform in his first one-man show at Darlington Arts Centre on Saturday, at 8pm. It is 25 years since he did his first professional performance and to celebrate he is taking his show on the road. Tickets are £11 and £9.

BAG MISSING: Officials at Darlington Football Club are appealing for the return of a bag which went missing yesterday afternoon. The bag is black with Wilsonart written on the side. Inside were two books containing telephone numbers, a diary and a business card case. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the bag is asked to contact Luke Raine on (01325) 240240.

ON SONG: The St James Church choir is meeting tomorrow for a practice following the weekly Mass. The practice will take place from 7.15pm at the church, in Albert Hill, Darlington. New members are welcome.

Parish quiz: A parish quiz takes place on Saturday at the Millennium Centre of All Saints and Salutation Church in Blackwell. Tickets are available at the door and the event starts at 7.30pm. All proceeds will go to support a Raleigh International trip to Ghana.
