PEOPLE of all ages are being asked to help compile a brief history of a community.

Spennymoor Youth and Community Association is putting together an exhibition of photographs of important events in the town's Bessemer Park, where the community centre is situated.

Staff at the centre are asking residents to lend them old photographs for the display.

Play development worker Joanne Smith said: "We are particularly looking for photographs which represent a time in which the Queen came to the throne, the Queen's Silver Jubilee and any photographs of significance between those times.

"It will be a nice way to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee and bring the community together."

Volunteers are also needed to help run the project.

Photographs can be sent to Spennymoor Youth and Community Association, Merrington View, Spennymoor, DL16 6PP or ring (01388) 816331. Names, addresses and information about the pictures should be enclosed.
