THE prized assets of a glamour model are being immortalised in glass in a delicate hands-on operation by glass experts.
Danni May's most famous body parts were yesterday moulded for posterity at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland.
She underwent the unusual casting session under the glare of the probing lenses of eager local and national newspaper photographers.
Within a few weeks the topless torso of the Sunderland model will join glass castings of body parts of other North-East celebrities on show in the centre's Wall of Fame.
The feet of Sunderland's star striker Kevin Phillips, club Player of the Century Charlie Hurley and Newcastle Falcons' director of rugby Rob Andrew, already feature alongside the fist of Wearside's ex-boxing champion Billy Hardy, and the hands of Sunderland's 1973 FA Cup Final goalkeeping hero Jimmy Montgomery.
Agony aunt Denise Robertson and North-East Paralympic champions Tanni Grey-Thompson and Hazel Robson are also immortalised in glass.
Danni's addition to the Wall of Fame followed a tongue-in-cheek suggestion by a local newspaper columnist.
She was described by the centre as a "big supporter of contemporary art".
"I'm over the moon," she said yesterday. "I think it will be great to get the bits that have made me famous immortalised in glass."
