AERIAL photographs of Richmond dating back to 1927 have been compiled in a book.
Richmond, North Yorkshire, From Low Up in the Air, is due to be launched on Thursday by Audrey Carr, whose interest in aerial photographs was sparked by a visit to a teashop in the town.
"I went for a cup of tea to my cousin's teashop in York House and was fascinated by a tiny cobbled path and a collection of very old workshops at the back of the building," she said.
"I wanted to find out more and I discovered a firm that had aerial photographs, so I sent for one."
Miss Carr was so enthralled by the picture that she sent for a copy of every picture of Richmond from the air that the company held.
"I thought these must be shared with Richmond people so I wrote a text for each one that I had.
"I hope people will find the collection absolutely fascinating."
The book is available from outlets in the town.
