Music lovers in Ryedale will be given a double treat when the Dalesman Singers are joined by guests from Wombwell Main Male Voice Choir. The South Yorkshire singers are visiting their friends in the northern part of the county for a concert at Danby Methodist Church on Saturday, May 4, at 7pm. Admission is free, but there will be a collection at the end of the night.
CROSSING CLOSURE: The level crossing on Ainderby Road, Romanby, Northallerton, will be closed from Saturday to Wednesday, May 1. The closure is to allow essential maintenance work to be carried out. An alternative route for vehicles will be signed.
ROAD CLOSES: Motorists in the Easingwold area are being warned about the temporary closure of Moor Lane, Huby, from Monday, April 29, to Friday, May 3, because of carriageway repairs.
FARM WALK: North Yorkshire Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group is staging a farm walk at Botton village, Danby, on the North York Moors, on Thursday, from 1.30pm. The event will provide an introduction for farmers and landowners to the role of reed beds in water treatment and pollution control.
PLANS BACKED: Scar-borough residents have supported proposals put forward by developers Benchmark to improve the North Bay area of the town. Hundreds of local people responded to a questionnaire to say they wanted to see more indoor entertainment in the area.
SCHOOL FAIR: An open day and summer fair will be held at Cundall Manor School, near Helperby, on Saturday, May 18. The events start at 9.30am.
PARK TRIP: Staff and year six children from schools around the Northallerton area have visited the North York Moors National Park. A group of 68 children stayed at East Barnby Outdoor Residential Centre, near Whitby, for a week-long programme of outdoor events, including moorland walks, orienteering, exploring the shoreline at Runswick Bay, and building shelters in Mulgrave Woods.
