CHARGRILL restaurant chain Ma Potter's is opening premises at Land Securities' £70m Gate development on Tyneside.
It will be the chain's tenth restaurant.
Mark Tousey, director of Ma Potter's, said: "We are excited about coming to Newcastle. Not only is The Gate in the heart of the shopping area but is also surrounded by offices.
"In the evening, our dinner trade will benefit greatly from the entertainment offerings in the scheme including the Odeon multiplex cinema."
The restaurant comprises 3,200sq ft plus a mezzanine, and will be able to accommodate up to 150 diners. It will create 40 jobs.
Ma Potter's operates in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Leeds.
The Gate is anchored by a 12-screen Odeon multiplex. The 188,000sq ft development of leisure and retail space occupies a 2.5 acre site in Newgate Street, in the Grainger Town regeneration area.
The three-storey development will have a glass front, and be visible from Eldon Square and the Bigg Market. There will be 258 parking places.
