BUDDING journalists have been given a £5,000 grant to ensure their community newspaper's future.
Pupils at Norton School, Norton, were presented with a cheque yesterday from Barclays New Futures Award to help finance their newspaper, called Norton Buzz.
The money will go towards a digital camera, printing costs and a trolley to enable the children deliver Buzz to houses in the Norton area.
Teacher Jill Sangster said the award meant the paper would be able to run for at least a few more terms.
She said: "The youngsters work on the paper in their own time and put a lot of effort into it.
"It gives them a better understanding of the local area, working together and developing their literacy skills."
