PEOPLE in Chilton have been given the chance to get involved in decision-making.
A community appraisal by Sedgefield Borough Council's Single Regeneration Budget programme in Chilton and Windlestone suggested the need for a partnership to address issues raised by residents. At the appraisal launch in January, the group invited people to put their names forward to join a steering group.
The group consists of 26 members made up of 15 residents, including two young people and three business representatives.
The residents are to examine the model of a partnership established to regenerate Cornforth, which has attracted more than £1m in investment since it was established seven years ago.
Members of the group need to look at issues including setting a constitution, and familiarise themselves with any other working groups. Employment of a community development worker for Chilton is a priority.
