Winter League
The promotion and relegation between the First and Second Divisions was not fully decided in the final week of matches although all other ups and downs were sorted. Old Shildon took the First Division Championship with Wheatley Hill A as the runners-up. Meadowfield and Sherburn Village finished equal at the top of the Second Division and face a play off for the winner's trophies. Bearpark won the Third Division with West Auckland in second place, whilst Belmont and Wheatley Hill B move from the Second Division to the Third.
Old Shildon as champions entertained the prospective runners-up, Wheatley Hill A and were taken to the decider before they edged through by the odd point. However the result was satisfactory to Wheatley Hill as they scored the two points needed for their second place. Dean Bryden put the Hill ahead but Jossie Aldworth with a 65 break and Michael Pratt took the next two for Shildon. Alan Hall levelled the match but the home side went to victory when Charlie Blake beat Dave Walker on the black.
Cockton Hill had a chnce of landing the runners-up spot but needed a good home win over Fishburn A but they never managed to get into the lead. In the decider Fishburn's John Griffin beat Peter Race.

Newton Aycliffe beat the visiting Brandon by the odd point but this was not enough to avoid a play off against Willington to avoid the drop. The home side had wins from Michael Hewitt, Bill Barrigan and John Briddick, whilst Kevin Sample and Brian Graham scored for Brandon.
Shotton Palms travelled to Spennymoor A and won in the decider. John Wilson and Karl Welsh won for the Moors with Paul Hickman and Dave Swindle levelling. In the decider John Armstrong beat Spennymoor's Paul Biddle on the black.

Singles Championship
Michael Pratt of Old Shildon repeated his Curry Cup final victory over Andrew Aisbitt of Cockton Hill when he won the semi-final of the singles at Wheatley Hill. Aisbitt made a good start and took the first frame with a 33 break and he should have followed this with a win in the second but, after putting in a 34 break, lost control of the frame as Pratt took over and cleared the table, finishing off with an outrageous fluke on the black.
Aisbitt again got in first in the third frame with a 40 break but Pratt pulled back and went to victory with a 31 break. The fourth frame became the most comfortable for Pratt when he put in a decisive 42 break to go into the final.
In the other semi-final Dave Walker of Wheatley Hill beat Eddie Rhodes of Spennymoor in straight frames. Rhodes who was suffering from arm problems never reached his full potential, whilst Walker was sound enough to take full advantage.
The date of the final has been changed to allow for Walker's holidays. It will now be played at Crowtrees on Wednesday, May 1 (7.30pm).
