PUPILS at a Darlington school are being encouraged to put on their dancing shoes.

A dance studio has just opened at Haughton Community School.

After-school on Tuesdays a dance club is held, and pupils are also helping young pupils at Springfield Primary School with their dancing.

There are now plans for children from the two schools to produce a joint dance performance at Springfield primary at the end of May.

Fifteen lucky students from the Haughton school are also being given the opportunity to take part in a dance workshop led by Adam Tindall, a professional dancer from Newcastle.

Both boys and girls can take part in the workshop next Tuesday which will encourage them to create their own dances.

Mr Tindall is highly trained in many aspects of dance and has wide experience in teaching dance skills.

He is involved in the No Limits Theatre Company, the Tyndale Council Pippins Group, leading community drama classes for children, and teaching dance to people with special needs. He has worked in Canada as well as in the North-East. Next month the Royal Academy of Dance will be holding a creative dance course in the studio at Haughton. The audience will be able to watch dance students aged between six and 16 at work.
