POLICE have issued an e-fit impression of a man who broke into a 77-year-old woman's home.
The Northern Echo reported yesterday how the woman, from Valley Grove, in Lanchester, found the man and his accomplice in her kitchen at about 4pm on Tuesday.
The man, who had an Irish accent, produced fake council identification and tried to dupe the pensioner into believing he was there on council business.
But she was not fooled and, eventually, the two intruders left empty-handed.
One man was described as about 5ft 11in, slim, clean shaven with dark hair. He wore a reflective yellow or orange garment over a navy blue jumper.
His accomplice, was about 5ft 6in, fat, in his 30s and spoke with a Geordie accent. He wore a blue baseball cap, grey fleece, grey tracksuit bottoms and spectacles with round frames.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Consett CID on (01207) 504204 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
