Sunderland Rotary Club has raised £250 to develop the rose scented garden in the city's Roker Park.
A group of club members, the Friends of Roker Park and Redby Primary School pupils will carry out planting today.
Among those attending will be Gemma Old, who opened the garden in 1991, when she was 12. Gemma is blind and has used the garden since it was established.
Gordon Robinson, of the Rotary Club, said: "For more than a decade now, the garden has proved valuable to members of the community who have sight disabilities, and today's planting will ensure that it continues to be so."
Norman Atkinson, horticultural co-ordinator at Sunderland City Council's city contracting services, said: "The Rotary Club's generosity will allow for a phase of re-planting, which will enhance the scented garden and provide a wonderful display in the park."
