Charlton 2 - 2 Sunderland - Sunderland eased their relegation worries by ending a run of five consecutive defeats this season in London by drawing 2-2 at Charlton.
It looked as though the Wearsiders would gain a priceless victory until Charlton substitute Kevin Lisbie equalised in the 82nd minute with a spectacular overhead kick from close range.
There were three goals in an explosive 12 minutes as both sides threw everything into attack.
Charlton grabbed a first minute lead through their leading scorer Jason Euell who smashed home a right foot shot from 12 yards but Sunderland went straight upfield to equalise trough Kevin Kilbane less than a minute later.
And former England striker Kevin Phillips ended a ten-game goal drought in the 12th minute, heading Sunderland into the lead.
Sunderland however were lucky to escape conceding a penalty when Thomas Sorensen seemed to bring down Scott Parker and the big Dane made a great one-handed save to deny Jonatan Johansson in the 14th minute.
It was exciting stuff for the sell-out 26,000 crowd and Niall Quinn missed two great chances to put Sunderland three up in the second half.
But Sundeland started to live dangerously and paid the penalty when Lisbie equalised after prolonged home pressure.
