Middlesbrough 0 - 2 Chelsea - Teenage striker Carlton Cole struck his first goal in senior football for Chelsea at the Riverside on Saturday to push his side towards a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.
Cole, an 18-year-old who has scored 27 goals in 24 reserve team games, headed home an Emmanuel Petit cross after 38 minutes.
Five minutes later, after Boro had been on the attack, Boudwijn Zenden broke and the Dutchman's shot from 20 yards deflected off defender Colin Cooper and flew past 'keeper Mark Schwarzer.
Boro rallied at the start of the second half but failed to close the deficit and Chelsea held on to inflict the Teessiders' third successive league defeat.
