A JUNIOR school has received a Government award after improving its results for three years in a row.
Greenland Junior School, in Stanley, has been recognised with an achievement award from the Department for Education and Skills after its 11 year-olds produced better results in National Curriculum tests.
For three years, the results showed an improvement with last year's the school's best ever and above average nationally.
The school was one of the 100 most improved in Britain.
