A fun day in Gateshead will give people the chance to find out about plans for a nature reserve.
The Bensham Wildflower fun day, organised by Gateshead Borough Council and Durham Wildlife Trust, will be held tomorrow, at the Bensham Butterfly Station in Elysium Lane, from 1pm to 4pm.
Activities include mini-beast safaris and wildflower planting, with visitors also able to find out about plans to turn the area into a community-run nature reserve.
The scheme is being drawn up under Gateshead Council's Next to Nature project, funded by an English Nature Wildspace! grant and the National Lottery's New Opportunities Fund. It is also supported by Durham Wildlife Trust, the Great North Forest and the Thompson's of Prudhoe Environmental Trust
