THE New Demi Club, in Consett has been reopened following a £100,000 refurbishment.
The remainder of the refurbishment work at the former Irish Democratic Club, in Medomsley Road, is expected to be completed next month, but the first function was held last week.
The club, which is non-profit making, is owned by Consett Rugby Club which is itself run by trustees.
Rob Varley, club treasurer, said: "We have spent a significant amount of cash and have a new function room and I'm sure it will be a big success.
