MURDER squad detectives were last night investigating the gruesome discovery of a body at a Middlesbrough waste site.
Officers were called to the Teesside Waste Management premises on Dockside Road, not far from the Riverside Stadium, yesterday afternoon after workmen made the gruesome discovery as they were sorting and grading piles of rubbish.
Rubbish is delivered by skip wagons from all over the North-East.
Senior detectives were on the scene along with specialist scenes of crime officers and a Home Office pathologist was also called in.
The police spotter plane carried out a video survey of the scene and the surrounding area.
Last night, a police spokesman said officers were not revealing whether the body is male or female, and inquiries were on going to identify the remains.
Teesside Waste Management said it had no comment to make
