Sunday is Workers' Memorial Day .
The international event is intended to remember the hundreds of thousands of people who die because of their employment or who suffer physical or mental impairment because of their work.
One of the biggest gatherings in the UK will be at St Andrew's Church in Newgate Street, Newcastle, at 11am.
Representatives from unions and the Northern TUC, some carrying banners, will be present for a service, led by the Reverend Glyn Evans, a leading member of Amicus MSF, the union representing clergy and church workers, which is organising Workers' Memorial Day.
During the past year more than 295 people in Britain died at work, while another 1,000 died on the roads while driving for work.
