SPECIAL guests marked the opening of a theatre's restaurant by sampling its cuisine.
The Dining Room, at Durham's Gala Theatre, supplements the venue's caf bar as a more formal restaurant.
Situated on the top floor, it provides a panoramic view of the city, and is available for private functions and meetings.
Among guests at the opening event were Lionel Blair and George Sewell, who have been starring in the play, Who Killed Agatha Christie, which was staged at the theatre last week.
A spokesman said: "An important part of the concept of The Dining Room is to reach out to local businesses by creating a lunch club for informal networking and a top quality affordable lunch.
"Co-sponsored by The Northern Echo, this offers discounts on conferencing, exclusive menus offering savings on corporate entertaining, and complimentary theatre tickets."
The Dining Room is open every day from noon to 2.30pm for lunch, and from 5.30pm to 10.30pm for dinner.
