AN education partnership has confirmed a range of courses which will be available in the Yorkshire Dales.
The lack of local transport can make access to colleges a challenge for the more isolated communities.
However, the Richmondshire Area Learning Partnership has been working with campuses to compile an education package to be introduced in the next few years.
North Yorkshire County Council's Chris McGee told the Upper Wensleydale Parish Forum that childcare courses could be available from as early as September.
Catering, agriculture and land management, and engineering could be added between now and 2006.
It is likely some study will still be necessary at colleges in Darlington, Northallerton, Catterick and Skipton, which should be easier to reach once proposed bus or taxi services are linked to the dales.
However, some modules could be completed at Wensleydale School, in Leyburn, or through video conferencing and home learning.
