MILLIONS of children will soon be "learning on the move" - thanks in part to one of the region's top attractions.
The National Railway Museum (NRM), in York, is one of the partners involved in an initiative designed to help youngsters learn more about transport issues.
They can now log on to a website - www.learningonthemove.co.uk - to find out about everything from barges to Brunei.
The interactive site is the culmination of two years' work by the NRM and the National Motor Museum, at Beaulieu, London's Transport Museum and the National Waterways Museum, at Gloucester.
Aimed at seven to 11-year-olds, it provides downloadable worksheets and online activities relating to a range of National Curriculum key stage two subjects.
It also encourages schools to upload their own projects and use email to take part in on-line discussions with the help of password-controlled templates.
Sponsored by the Department for Education and Skills, it is the result of many months of consultation, including teacher workshops and museum and Internet projects with 30 pilot schools.
Project manager Winstan Bond described the site as a "fantastic" new resource for teachers.
