YOUNGSTERS from east Cleveland have marched their way to success.
Three cadets from 2394 East Cleveland Squadron of the Air Training Corps competed recently in the Royal Air Force annual two- day road marching competition, as members of the Central and East Yorkshire wing team.
The group, which had to wear full combat uniform and backpacks, came fourth overall and was second in their category for the event, which was held at RAF Cosford, in the West Midlands, and were presented with the RAF Marching Medal for completing the event.
Among those who took part were Senior Cadet Daniel Laing, of New Marske, who is a pupil at Bydales School, Marske; Senior Cadet Kevin Weldon, of Skelton, who attends Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough; and Leading Cadet Guy Fernie, of Guisborough, a pupil at Sacred Heart School, Redcar.
The 80-kilometre march was attended by more than 1,400 service personnel and cadets from all the British services, as well as detachments from Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Denmark.
