Fitting result at library
THE Open Technology Centre in Stockton Central Library has been fitted out with new equipment.
Work at the weekend included installing a network system giving increased access to information and communications technology facilities. It was the start of a rolling programme across the borough, with the help of Government investment of £250,000. Two mini-technology centres will also be launched, in libraries in Billingham and Thornaby.
History week: A family history week is being held from next Tuesday to Friday, May 7 to 10, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, The Linkway, Billingham. Each evening there will be speakers and presentations giving people who want to trace their family history the chance to learn more about researching military records, censuses and records. Staff incentive: Managers of the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, Hartlepool, have introduced a scheme to improve performance among the centre's staff. The first winner of the Employee of the Month scheme is cleaner Tony Duncan, who receives £50 in store vouchers as his reward.
CHARITY CONCERT: A concert at Nature's World, in Middlesbrough, on Friday raised more than £100 for a National Youth Choir tour. Organiser Ruth Ellen James thanked all those who supported the event. GIRL CRAZY: Guisborough Recorded Music Society will hear a presentation called Girl Crazy, by Elizabeth Tarn, at its fortnightly meeting tomorrow, at 7.30pm, in the Evangelical Church, Fountain Street. New members are welcome.
CRAFT STALL: The League of Friends of Stead Memorial Hospital, Redcar, will hold a craft stall and tombola at Redcar Library, Coatham Road, on Thursday, from 9.30am.
BINGO TIME: A bingo session will take place in the Cheshire Home, Marske, on Thursday. The doors open at 1.30pm, with eyes down at 2pm. Entry is free. For details, contact (01642) 488889
