PARENTS whose children attend secondary schools across the borough of Stockton are being invited to attend a special event today.
They have been given the chance to go to Norton School, in Berkshire Road, Norton, to find out more about the Excellence in Cities' team of learning mentors.
The 48 mentors work in every secondary school in the borough, offering help and support to pupils.
Keith Robinson, director of Excellence in Cities in the Stockton borough, said: "The learning mentors and our learning support units (LSUs) are there to provide support to children and their families.
"It may be that a pupil needs a little extra help with their course work or has problems with attendance or behaviour.
"Whatever the need, the learning mentors and LSUs are there to do whatever they can to help the pupils and to liaise with their families to ensure they are involved in their children's education and progress."
Mentors will be at the school from 9am until 10am to meet parents.
