DARLINGTON's Craig Liddle has repeated his intention to stay at the club following weeks of uncertainty. He was offered a cut in wages which put his position under scrutiny, but the club have since confirmed they want him to see out the remaining two years of his contract.

However, speculation has continued about his future at Darlington and at a fans' forum in Newton Aycliffe on Monday, Liddle faced a flurry of questions from anxious supporters.

And the captain denied he had been in negotiations with third division rivals Hull City.

"They haven't been in touch," said Liddle. "I know they are supposed to be interested but I haven't spoken to them.

"Anyway, I can't speak to anybody unless the chairman gives permission."

At the same event, PR Director Luke Raine revealed the contracts of former manager Gary Bennett and his assistant Jimmy Montgomery will expire this summer.

Their future with the club was not assured as Raine indicated that Tommy Taylor may want to bring in his own backroom team.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Chris Porter has signed a one-year contract after impressing during the closing stages of the season after arriving as replacement for the injured Andy Collett, who is expected to return to action in time for next season.

l Quakers have confirmed they will be wearing new kits next season, and the away kit in particular will be altogether something different. Despite many supporters calling for the reintroduction of black and white hooped shirts, next season Darlington's home kit, which will again be manufactured by Xara, will be predominately white with black shorts and white socks with red trim.

The club's away strip will be all silver. The club are aiming to have them on sale at the beginning of June.
